Since the beginning of the New Year, I have been trying to get my health in order. I wanted to lose a few pounds, and I wanted to feel better overall. So I started looking for solutions for when I am on the go, and that’s when I found myself looking for the best low carb protein bars.

While I’ve been able to make a number of changes to how I am eating, there is still some room for improvement. I started using protein bars as a way to manage time, and replace some of my unhealthy snacking in the middle of the afternoon.

While carbs have their place in any diet, too many of them can slow down your weight loss goals. So I’ve been on a hunt for the best low carb bars, and luckily I was able to find a few of them.

A low carb option for protein bars will usually have their protein derived from a natural source.

You might find that many of these bars have peanuts, pistachios or other nuts in them. They usually contain protein powder and coconut flour in them as well. 

An added bonus if you’re someone who likes to limit their gluten intake, many of these low carb options tend to be gluten free. 

Is Eating Too Many Protein Bars Bad for You?

While protein bars can be really helpful for a quick pick-me-up, you shouldn’t be replacing your meals with protein bars.

When you’re in the middle of a diet and workout regimen, you need your energy from lean protein, fruits, veggies and whole grains.

 Don’t think you’re going to achieve your weight loss goals by filling up on protein bars. This will just cause your body to be extra hungry. You’ll quickly lose the energy that you previously had to work out with. 

Who Should Consider Low Carb Protein Bars?

A low carb protein bar option is a great healthy snack to have on hand for anyone that is trying to stay focused on specific weight loss or fitness goals. Bars are a lot more convenient when on the go, and they can serve as great alternatives to low carb shakes which take extra time to prepare.

It’s difficult for me to personally stay focused on meal preparation and planning ahead. I have a very busy schedule, so using a protein bar is a great way to make sure I’m eating healthy while sticking to my protein intake requirements. I can take them with me wherever I need to go.

Are Low Carb Protein Bars Good for Weight Loss?

Reducing the amount of carbohydrates that you consume on a daily basis can have a huge impact on your weight loss.

It can also help retrain your body to be less sensitive to insulin, which can link to health complication’s including type 2 diabetes. Once you have found a low carb protein bar option that you’re happy with, your body will start to show signs of:

  • Reduced inflammation
  • Less mood swings
  • Healthier skin
  • Better oral health
  • Less heartburn
  • Less food cravings overall

Probar is gluten free, non-GMO and has no artificial ingredients. This is a great low carb option that you can keep with you at all times for when you start to get hungry or tired. They can taste a little sweet, but you at least know you’re not filling up on refined sugar or artificial sweeteners. 

This bar is meant to replace a meal, which is why you will find that the calorie and carb amounts are higher than our other products listed in this review.

These protein bars from Love Good Fats are made with a ton of healthy fats, such as chocolate, peanut butter, various nut butters, coconut, butter, etc.

Don’t forget that healthy fats are beneficial as part of your health journey as well. I had to get my head around the fact that the word ‘fats’ doesn’t necessarily equate to something bad. There are only 5 grams of carbs in each bar, and an impressive 1 gram of sugar is in each one.

Keep in mind that these bars need to be kept cool. You don’t have to keep them in the refrigerator (unless you want to), but a cool pantry or cupboard is best. If they are in too hot of an area, this can cause them to melt because of all the healthy fats in them.

Finally a protein bar-type product that makes you feel like you are eating dessert in the middle of the day! The protein in this product is baked into an actual brownie that is made with healthy ingredients. As an added touch, I loved the chocolate chips added to the top for a sweet crunch.

Each of these brownies contains 16 grams of protein from whey. Only 7 grams of sugar is in each bar, which isn’t a lot considering it’s a brownie, and it’s quite sweet.

There are a number of different flavors available. Classic fudge and Birthday Cake make you feel like you’re eating something you shouldn’t because they’re so good! Every ingredient has been scientifically tested and researched to make sure that it will provide you with energy and healthy nourishment.

The company claims that the product may help improve digestion and suppresses appetite for up to 4 hours. The bars are soft and delicious according to multiple reviews, and if you like coconut, then you will love this bar.

In general, I found out that it takes a bit of taste testing to figure out what you will like. Some people aren’t picky, and they don’t really care if the texture is a bit dense.

You’re really looking for a convenient, low carb option that is going to give you energy for a few hours at a time. I like to eat a protein bar in the middle of the afternoon when I start to get tired and lose my focus. It’s also a great product to have in my gym bag if I plan on going somewhere else after the gym.

Rather than ruining my accomplished workout with an unhealthy meal that I pick up on my way to my next destination, I know I’m getting the protein I need, but I’m not consuming all those unwanted carbs that are going to negate my workout.

The best idea is to switch it up a bit so you don’t get sick of one type of bar. Luckily, there are a number of different varieties on the market that you can test. I prefer the whole food varieties that are made with real ingredients.
